Feeling lost? Here are 5 Tips To Help You Find Yourself

Are you feeling lost? Feeling as though you’re not sure who you are or what you want in life? If this sounds like you, don’t worry; you’re not alone. It’s okay to feel lost at some point in your life. Whether you’re going through a significant life change or just feeling lost in your day-to-day life, just remember that this feeling is only temporary. And there are things you can do to find yourself and get back on track. 

So how do I go about finding myself? How do I get back to feeling like I know who I am and what I want in life?

The feeling of not belonging, not knowing who you are or what you want to do with your life can be very confusing and overwhelming.  But the good news is, there are things you can do to find yourself and get back on track. Let’s explore some tips on how to find yourself when you feel lost 

Why Do I Feel Lost?  

The first step in finding yourself is understanding why you feel lost. This is often different for everyone. Maybe you’re going through a significant life-changing event such as a divorce, the death of a loved one, or graduating from college. It might even be due to a relatively minor event such as a job loss, a move to a new city, or the end of a relationship. 

Whatever the reason, you will only find yourself once you determine what’s causing the ‘lost’ feeling.

How To Find Yourself When You Feel Lost

Once you understand why you feel lost, you can now start working on finding yourself again. Here are some tips to get you started: 

  1. Reconnect With Your Core Values And Beliefs

Go back to square one and ask yourself what’s important to you. What do you believe in? What kind of person do you want to be? Answering these questions can help you figure out who you are and what you want in life. 

  1. Spend Some Quality Time Alone

Spending time alone when you’re feeling lost doesn’t mean you have to go off into the wilderness by yourself (unless that’s what you want to do). Just take some time for yourself; go for a walk in nature, read your favorite book, meditate or take a bath. 

Doing things that make you feel good and help you relax will give you some time to think about your life and recenter.

  1. Get Rid Of The Negative And Anything Holding You Back

When you’re feeling lost, it’s easy to focus on the bad. But if you want to find yourself, you need to let go of anything holding you back. This could be negative thoughts and beliefs about yourself, toxic relationships, a job you hate, or anything else that’s dragging you down. 

Get rid of anything that’s not serving you, focus on your holistic wellness journey, and make space for positive things in your life. 

  1. Be Willing To Try New Things

Sometimes the best thing you can do when you feel lost is to try something new. Step out of your comfort zone and try something that scares you. It could be anything from going on a solo trip to a new country to taking a painting class. 

By pushing yourself to try new things, you’ll learn more about yourself and what you’re capable of. 

  1. Talk To A Therapist Or Coach

If you’re struggling to find yourself, it’s okay to ask for help. Talking to a therapist or life coach is a great way to get clarity on your life and what you want from it. They can help you work through your feelings and guide you on how to move forward. 

It’s Okay to Feel Lost Sometimes

Finding yourself doesn’t happen overnight — it takes time and effort. But if you’re willing to put in the work, you’ll eventually find your way back. With the above tips, you’ll be well on your way to discovering who you are and what you want in life.
