How to Explore Your Spiritual Core: 6 Tips

Opinion surveys reveal that most people believe in God or a higher power. Most people also admit they draw strength and direction from religion or spirituality at their darkest moments to help them cope and achieve stellar mental health.  

In fact, according to one therapist, such people join their inherent strength with the divine, nature, and the universe to form something “bigger than self” that helps them wade through the storms of life. Such a connection to a higher spiritual realm is profoundly personal, and there’s no one-size-fits-all approach. Everyone has a different journey.

To help you get started, here are 6 practical tips on how to explore your spiritual core.

1. Meditate and Practice Yoga

Meditation is a powerful relaxation tool for the body and mind. It allows you to spend time with your mind by focusing on thoughts that connect you to your inner self. Since our physical and mental states are intertwined, deep meditation goes well with yoga. That’s why deep meditation is highly associated with yogists.

You, too, can learn meditation and find calmness and clarity of mind that help you connect better with your spiritual core. Sit in a quiet place, breathe deeply, and allow your mind to explore your spiritual being.

2. Engage in a Spiritual Practice

Engaging in spiritual practice is proven to draw you close to the spiritual core. Depending on your beliefs, pray, attend religious service, or practice yoga.

Some prefer lone moments to sit quietly and listen to a spiritual podcast. For others, talking to friends or spiritual leaders makes them feel connected to their spiritual world better. Know what works for you and go for it.

3. Spend Time in Nature

Spending time in nature is a fantastic way to enhance your spiritual wellness. Gazing at natural phenomena like the moon, sunrise, weather, or lake can help you connect to the sacred and invoke spiritual feelings.

For better results, spend time at the park or by the beach, hike mountains, or gaze at the stars at night. If you can find some grass outdoors, remove your shoes and step on it with both feet firmly planted on the Earth. This process is called grounding—a proven way to help people connect more deeply to the spiritual world.

4. Journal    

Drafting down your thoughts and feelings is one of the most effective spiritual wellness activities. Journaling can help you understand yourself better and give you more control over your emotions. Focus and write down the things you genuinely believe in. You don’t need to follow any specific approach to it.

Journal about anything that comes to mind and things you can visualize. Besides helping you connect to the spiritual core, journaling also helps lower stress, depression, and anxiety, thus improving your overall health. You can priotize your problems, fears, and concerns and deal with them better. 

5. Stay Open to Writing on the Wall

Trust your intuition and stay open to the signs around you. Sometimes that’s how the universe guides us when we are not confident in our decisions. You can tell if your intuition is around when thoughts like, “ I can’t just explain it” or “It felt wrong to me” lingers in your mind.

Sometimes you just need to pay attention to a song playing in the background and the message it sends to you. It could be a recurring song in your mind or a song you hear more often when you visit different places. Take time to analyze the message it might be sending to you. It could be a spiritual awakening or just some reality about your life.

6. Practice Gratitude

Focus on things you feel grateful about and show gratitude. Find a silent atmosphere,   pay attention to the good things in your life, and show gratitude. It could be as simple as an appreciation of good health.

Gratitude for small things in life helps you recognize the presence of divine power in your life, helping you feel more positive and content. It enables you to find new perspectives about life, allowing you to find blessings in every situation. You can think and visualize at least three things in your life every day and show gratitude. Focus on other people and thank at least one new person every week.
